Abstract
A laboratory experiment was conducted in the Department of Agriculture, Bacha Khan University Charsadda to examine the Allelopathic effects some common weeds of district Charsadda viz; parthenium, xaintheium and cannabis against some crop seeds. The data was recorded on the germination (%), shoot weight (cm) and root weight (g) of tested crops. The results revealed that parthenium extracts proved much toxic against the tested crop species particularly the mungbean. Among the crop species the cowpea with stand to the phytotoxicity of all the weed extracts while, the mungbean proved more susceptible to the weed extracts. Thus the present study suggesting the popularization of the parthenium extracts as a bioherbicides against problematic weeds of different crops. Moreover, this allelopathic activity of the weed may be different in field conditions due to the large difference of environmental conditions. Therefore, further studies are suggested to confirm this activity under field conditions
